In choosing the subject for his recent highly acclaimed biography The Rebel's Clinic: The Revolutionary Lives of Frantz Fanon (Bloomsbury Publishing, 2024), the author ADAM SHATZ hits a nerve of our time. His dazzling biography of one of the most important Black writers in the age of anti-colonial liberation movements, a psychiatrist, philosopher, and revolutionary activist, offers deep insights into the role of violence in politics.
In conversation with OSF’s executive vice president and Ideas Workshop director, LEONARD BENARDO, the author will offer a window into the struggles of the times and how these struggles shaped Fanon’s visionary thought.
ADAM SHATZ is the US editor of The London Review of Books and a contributor to The New York Times Magazine, The New York Review of Books, The New Yorker, and other publications. He is also a visiting professor at Bard College. He hosts the podcast Myself with Others and is currently a visiting fellow at the Institute for Human Sciences (IWM Vienna).
